Captain America: Brave New World was a letdown for many fans, but Marvel is taking another shot at the concept, this time in the comic books with Chip Zdarsky’s Captain America (2025) run. The story brings back the original Cap, Steve Rogers, in a post-9/11 world and pits him against Red Hulk in the ruins of Latveria. This time, the political drama and intense action seem to be hitting all the right notes.
A Political Thriller Superhero Adventure
After the chaos in Latveria post-One World Under Doom, two different parties approach Steve Rogers for help in settling the situation. Nick Fury Jr. wants Steve to lead a mission for SHIELD, focused on protecting people and preventing the wrong hands from getting hold of Doom’s weapons. On the other hand, General Thunderbolt Ross sees a chance to establish his own version of democracy in Latveria, putting him at odds with Steve’s ideals.
The Clash of Ideals
In this comic, the clash between Steve and Red Hulk goes beyond physical strength. Steve embodies the idealized version of America, emphasizing kindness, freedom, and helping those less fortunate. On the other hand, Ross is more concerned with America’s success and power, justifying his actions in the name of freedom. This clash of what America is versus what it should be creates a tense and charged dynamic that is at the core of the story.
The Intensity Rises
As the stakes get higher and the tension escalates, Captain America’s fight against Red Hulk becomes not just physical, but also ideological. The comic does a great job of establishing and justifying both characters’ perspectives, setting the stage for an intense and gripping storyline. This is shaping up to be one of the most compelling Captain America stories of all time, blending history, politics, and superhero action in a way that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
Captain America #6 is out now, and it’s a must-read for fans of the character and the genre.
